Chiaka Barry, African-Australian with Ibusa Mother Wins Ginninderra Seat in Australia

Chiaka Barry, a trailblazing African-Australian politician, has made history by winning the Ginninderra Seat in the Australian Capital Territory. Her victory is being hailed as a landmark moment for African-Australian representation.

As a proud Nigerian-Australian, Chiaka Barry’s roots are deeply connected to both Imo State and Isieke in Umuekea, Ibusa, Delta State, where her mother hails from. Her achievement has been recognized and celebrated by various leaders, including Clyde Salumu Sharady, Abike Dabiri, and Rev Dr. Felix Nwabuokei, who acknowledged her connection to the Anioma people and congratulated her on behalf of the people.
